Brave Neighbor Coffeehouse & Social | Portland, Oregon
About us
We opened a coffeehouse… but not just any coffeehouse.
In a world that often feels far too transactional, we dared to ask: What would happen if we emphasized relationships?
What would happen if we truly lived like we loved our neighbors?
For us, the answer is simple: it looks like this.
Brave Neighbor Coffeehouse & Social is a gathering space—a living room for the neighborhood. We’re the cozy corner where you can take a breath, sip a thoughtfully crafted coffee, and enjoy a warm, hearty sandwich or a bowl of soup. We’re situated next door to Spin Laundry Lounge, the modern-day equivalent of the communal well because we know that sometimes the best connections happen while the spin cycle runs.
We believe in leaning in—in being that brave neighbor who takes the first step, who strikes up a conversation, who listens. Let’s get to know each other, not just talk about the weather. Let’s dig deeper, past small talk, and discover the souls behind our neighbors. Because we all need places where they don’t just know our name—places where they truly know us.
Who we are
We’re Mary and Edward, partners in life, community, and coffee. After celebrating 31 years of marriage and seeing our four grown kids off into the world, we returned home to Oregon to be close to our aging parents and the roots that shaped us. But it wasn’t enough to simply live here—we wanted to connect.
So, we dreamed up a space where relationships could take center stage. A space where strangers become neighbors, and neighbors become friends. Brave Neighbor Coffeehouse & Social is the realization of that dream.
Come on in.
Grab a cup, grab a seat, and let’s talk. Let’s laugh. Let’s know one another. Whether you’re drying your clothes, grabbing a quick bite, or settling in for an afternoon of conversation and community, you’re welcome here. You belong here.
Let’s all be brave neighbors together.
With warmth and open hearts,
Mary & Edward
